On May 6, the delegation of Kimyo International University in Tashkent, led by the founder of the university, Professor Alisher Vakhobov, paid an official visit to one of Italy’s most prestigious higher education institutions — University of Pisa
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in education, science, and innovation, strengthening international academic relations, and implementing joint projects.
Founded in 1343, University of Pisa is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Italy. The university is renowned for its outstanding contribution to world science and for its association with many prominent scholars. In particular, the famous astronomer and physicist Galileo Galilei studied and conducted scientific research at this university.
The university is also associated with several Nobel Prize laureates, including:
• Enrico Fermi — Nobel Prize in Physics, 1938
• Carlo Rubbia — Nobel Prize in Physics, 1984
• Giosuè Carducci — Nobel Prize in Literature, 1906
• Maria Goeppert Mayer — Nobel Prize laureate in Physics
• Mario Capecchi — Nobel Prize laureate in Medicine
During the negotiations, the two sides reached agreements on several strategic areas of cooperation. In particular, discussions focused on launching joint educational programs based on 2+2 and 1+1 models, developing joint master’s degree programs, and creating integrated curricula in engineering, information technologies, and natural sciences.
The parties also agreed to expand academic exchange programs involving professors, researchers, and students, implement joint research projects, and participate together in international grant initiatives.
Special attention was given to strengthening academic mobility within the Erasmus+ framework and promoting new international initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two universities solemnly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will serve as a strong foundation for long-term strategic partnership and cooperation.
