Malaysian Batik Art Comes to KIUT’s Creative Studios
The centuries-old art of batik, where fabric, wax, and colours come together to create intricate patterns, has become part of the creative experience at Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT).
As part of the international “Malaysia – Uzbekistan Fashion Batik Project – ITEMU 2026,” Malaysian specialists have arrived at KIUT to conduct hands-on workshops for Fashion Design students.
Batik is a traditional textile art that uses wax-resist dyeing techniques to create distinctive patterns on fabric. It holds an important place in the cultural heritage of Southeast Asia, including Malaysia.
During the workshops, students are learning traditional batik techniques directly from Malaysian experts and exploring ways to incorporate cultural motifs into contemporary fashion design.
The project brings together the creative traditions of Malaysia and Uzbekistan, opening new opportunities for young designers to experiment, collaborate, and develop their artistic skills.
