
On July 22, 2025, the delegation of Tashkent Kimyo International University (KIUT), currently on an official visit to Portugal, paid a visit to the University of Aveiro, located in the city of Aveiro.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the strengthening of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Portugal, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, leveraging academic opportunities, and exchanging best practices in the field of education.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Professor Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Rector of the University of Aveiro. In his address, he emphasized the global significance of international cooperation, the necessity of deepening relations between the two universities, and the promising prospects in the fields of education and science.
Professor Karimjon Akhmedjanov, Rector of KIUT, delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the university's achievements in education, participation in international projects, ongoing efforts to enhance the academic and scientific environment, and opportunities provided to students.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at further developing bilateral cooperation. According to the memorandum, the two universities agreed to collaborate on joint projects within the Erasmus+ program, exchange professors and enhance their qualifications, implement student exchange programs in “2+2” and “1+1” formats for undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct joint scientific research, organize international conferences, symposiums, and roundtable discussions, and provide mutual support in the fields of science and education.
This visit marked an important step toward strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding in the spheres of education and science between the two countries.
